To everything there is a season,
a time for every purpose under heaven…
—King Solomon, Ecclesiastes 3:1-13.
There Is A Season is an in-progress quartet revolving around the life of a Native American pyromaniac in early 1970’s America. It is a story about overcoming your nature, about accepting the past, and perhaps most ultimately about redemption.
There Is A Season takes its inspiration from the 2007 video game Team Fortress 2, though it can be read and enjoyed by anyone regardless of familiarity with the source material. It is rated “M” on Archive of Our Own for violence and language (primarily cursing, with very infrequent instances of slurs and racism). TIAS features no romantic or sexual relationships as part of its core story.
As of October 25, 2020, the first three parts, Sparkler, Cryoablation, and Hold Your Fire are complete. The fourth and final part, Sink or Swim, is currently being posted.

Protect the flames with your hands, if you must. But don’t be surprised when the blisters form, or when you cease to feel the pain.
Wildfires must come and run their course, but take care not to scorch the earth too completely. One day you may want it again.
When the embers fade, look to the ashes. Remember what they were. Where there was once life, there can be life again, if you will only seek it.
